Irritable bowel syndrme (IBS) study
Digestive disorders like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are common – IBS affects up to 20% of the world’s population and can have a significant impact on quality of life and societal expenses. Those with IBS suffer many different gut symptoms several times per month including diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal pain. It has been suggested that care provided by naturopathic doctors may impact symptoms and quality of life of those experiencing IBS. This study will test if naturopathic care provided at naturopathic teaching clinics around the globe is helpful in patients with IBS. Participants will be followed for a period of three months.
Participant responsibilities:
Complete three online questionnaires.
Inclusion criteria:
- Adults (>18 years of age)
- Pre-existing IBS diagnosis OR IBS-like symptoms as a primary cause of seeing naturopathic doctor at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC)
- Ability to answer questions in English or have an English speaking care provider who can attend all study visits.
Location of study:
Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (1255 Sheppard Ave East, Toronto, ON)
Duration:
Participants will be followed for three months.
Remuneration:
Participants will not receive any honorarium for their participation.
