Course description

Shirodhara is a classical ayurvedic procedure of slowly dripping oils over the forehead. The name comes from the Sanskrit words shiro (head) and dhara (flow). Shirodhara has been shown to induce relaxation and may be beneficial for conditions such as stress, anxiety, insomnia and ADHD.

This two-day workshop will cover the fundamental principles of ayurvedic diagnosis as well as hands on experience doing Shirodhara therapy using both manual and automatic treatment methods.

Learning objectives:

  • Differentiating between types of Shirodhara procedures and when to use them
  • Learn to customize Shirodhara treatment to suit the individual and their condition
  • Learn benefits, Indications and contraindications of Shirodhara therapy

Harish Kumar Verma - Instructor

Dr. Harish Kumar Verma is the founder and president of Canadian College of Ayurveda & Yoga Inc. He earned his Ayurveda degree (BAMS) from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and is the author of two books A Comprehensive Book of Ayurvedic Medicine and Secrets of Ayurveda. He has lectured extensively in the US, UK and Canada and was a member of the governing body of National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur, India. He was also a member of faculty & board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine in Punjab.
