Course description

This two-hour course explores the essential global health policies and tools that every ND needs to know. Learn of the most cutting edge developments in global naturopathic medicine research, policies and practice that will affect every ND. Whether you work in a boutique practice, serve underserved communities in Canada or travel abroad, this lecture will provide tools and information pertinent for practitioners, researchers and policy makers. A specific toolkit/checklist for absolute necessities for those working abroad will also be provided.

Learning objectives

  • Review international trends in naturopathic medicine
  • Describe factors affecting global health on our planet such as use of pesticides in developing countries, climate change, GMOs
  • Describe WHO policies that affect naturopathic medicine
  • Discuss key considerations for working abroad in under resourced countries - standards, permission, health considerations
