The following is a list of scholarships and bursaries currently available to CCNM students for the 2019 - 2020 academic year.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Alpha Science Laboratories Prize for Excellence in Botanical Medicine

Three prizes of $1,000 each will be awarded to students for the highest mark in Botanical Medicine I, II and III in the academic year 2019/2020.

CCNM Year 3 Scholarship

One scholarship of $2,500 will be rewarded to one third-year student in the 2019-2020 academic year based on GPA.

Cyto-Matrix Scholarship for Natural Health Leadership

The scholarship recognizes one full-time student that has demonstrated leadership in natural health while maintaining superior academic standing. $5,000 will be awarded to a current year 1 student who is entering year 2 in September 2020.

ETD-Seirin Scholarship for Excellence in Asian Medicine (Year 3)

The ETD-Seirin Scholarship for Excellence in Asian Medicine was established by Electro-Therapeutic Devices Inc. and Seirin Co. Ltd to recognize excellence in Asian medicine among students at CCNM. ETD is a longest standing Canadian provider of high quality acupuncture supplies. Seirin was the first worldwide to initiate the development and sales of disposable acupuncture needles and is now regarded as setting the global standard for manufacturing excellence in this area. The recipient of the Scholarship will receive $3,000.

Mubina Jiwa Memorial Scholarship

Established by friends and family of the late Dr. Mubina Jiwa, ND, to honour her memory, the scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded to a student in year 2 of the program at CCNM. Once awarded to a recipient, the scholarship will continue on an annual basis until graduation provided a minimum GPA of 3.7 is maintained.

Robert Schad Leadership Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate who demonstrates the potential to develop into a leader and change-maker within the naturopathic profession. The winner will receive $10,000 per year for years two, three and four of the program. Applications are open to those who rank in the top 10% of their class at the end of first year.

Plant a Seed and See What Grows Bursary

The Plant a Seed and See What Groups Bursary was established by the Plant a Seed and See What Grows Foundation to honour a full-time student in any year with an interest in organized gardening and farming. $1,000 will be awarded to one student.

Natural Terrain Naturopathic Award

The Natural Terrain Naturopathic Award was established by CCNM alumni, Dr. Michael Mason-Wood, ND, Class of 2003, and Dr. Christina Bjorndal, ND, Class of 2005, to recognize and support students who demonstrate a keen interest in mental health and wish to support patients with mental health issues in their professional practice. $2,500 will be awarded to one student each year.

 
Year 1 Bursaries

Dr. Gregory Wayne Prytula, ND, Memorial Bursary - Sponsored by NaturoMedic.org and Dr. Michael Prytula, ND

$1,000 to be awarded to the first year student who best demonstrates what they gave up to join the naturopathic profession. Eligible applicants must show financial need as demonstrated by government loan(s) or employment record(s) indicating employment for at least 40 hrs per week on available summers or 10 hrs per week during the school year.

Cyto-Matrix Scholarship for Natural Health Leadership

The Cyto-Matrix Scholarship in Natural Health Leadership recognizes one student enrolled full-time in the CCNM program that have demonstrated leadership in natural health while maintaining superior academic standing. $5,000 will be awarded to a current year 1 student who is entering year 2 in September 2020.

Bursary for new students

A number of entrance bursaries are available to new students. Candidates must be registered as a new student with a minimum 60 per cent course load in the naturopathic program; must demonstrate financial need by qualifying for government financial aid and must submit one paragraph outlining why they feel they are a good candidate for an entrance bursary and how this bursary will assist them. The funds will be applied directly towards the student account. The number of awards available is dependent on the amount of money collected from donors.

First Nations Award - Sponsored by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine

CCNM and Baagwating Community Association through the Baagwating Kendasswin Busary jointly sponsor an award for students who are Canadian status Indian, Inuit or member of a recognized First Nations band, including Métis. The bursary is $10,000 per year for four consecutive years if one student is awarded, or $5,000 per year for four consecutive years if two students are awarded.

 
Year 2 Bursaries

Bursary for Returning Students

Thanks to our generous donors, a number of $2,500 bursaries are available to returning students. Eligible applicants must be registered as a full-time student, demonstrate financial need and qualify for government financial aid, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

NaturoMedic.org Bursary - Sponsored by Dr. Michael Prytula, ND

$1,000 to be awarded to the second year student who best describes how they successfully balance volunteer work, employment and student life. Eligible applicants must show financial need as demonstrated by government loan(s) or employment record(s) indicating employment for at least 40 hrs per week on available summers or 10 hours per week during the school year.

Linda Joyce Ganly Memorial Bursary - Sponsored by the estate of Linda Joyce Ganly

Two awards of $2,500 to be applied to tuition sponsored by the estate of Linda Joyce Ganly in recognition of her belief in and support of the efficacy of naturopathic medicine. Eligible applicants must be registered in year two; demonstrate financial need (as assessed by government student loan eligibility or other means); demonstrate strength of character, as well as a passion for and commitment to promoting naturopathic medicine through leadership, motivation, and collaboration and; submit a detailed essay and CV.

 
Year 3 Bursaries (including IMG First Year)

Bursary for Returning Students

Thanks to our generous donors, a number of $2,500 bursaries are available to returning students. Eligible applicants must be registered as a full-time student, demonstrate financial need and qualify for government financial aid, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

NaturoMedic.org Bursary - Sponsored by Dr. Michael Prytula, ND

$1,000 to be awarded to the third year student who has most successfully mastered the language of the naturopathic modalities. Eligible applicants must show financial need as demonstrated by government loan(s) or employment record(s) indicating employment for at least 40 hours per week on available summers or 10 hours per week during the school year.

 
Year 4 Bursaries (including IMG Second Year)

Bursary for Returning Students

Thanks to our generous donors, a number of $2,500 bursaries are available to returning students. Eligible applicants must be registered as a full-time student, demonstrate financial need and qualify for government financial aid, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

NaturoMedic.org Bursary - Sponsored by Dr. Michael Prytula, ND

$1,000 awarded to the fourth-year student who best describes how they have educated themselves in therapies beyond the required courses at CCNM that will help to expand their clinical practice. Eligible applicants must show financial need as demonstrated by government loan(s) or employment record(s) indicating employment for at least 40 hours per week on available summers or 10 hours per week during the school year.

 

GRADUATION AWARDS

Governors’ Award of Excellence - Sponsored by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine

$1,000 awarded to the graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding academic performance in the naturopathic medicine program.

Humanitarian Award - Sponsored by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine

$1,000 awarded to the graduating student who has best exemplified dedication to the betterment and service of humanity, as demonstrated through words and deeds that reflect the principles of naturopathic medicine and that produce meaningful change in the lives of others.

Joyce Vanderburgh Scholarship - Sponsored by the Estate of Joyce Vanderburg

Annual interest earned on the principal of the Estate of Joyce Vanderburgh is awarded to the graduating female student who best demonstrates outstanding clinic performance and patient interaction.

Leadership Award - Sponsored by the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine

$1,000 awarded to the graduating student who has best exemplified outstanding leadership within the CCNM community.

NSA Community Spirit Award - Sponsored by the NSA

$1,000 awarded to the student who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and a consistent desire to promote student life during their time at CCNM, and through their involvement has greatly contributed to raising school spirit by making a positive imprint on the CCNM community.

NSA Naturopathic Honour Award - Sponsored by the NSA

$1,000 awarded to the student who has revealed outstanding leadership, contribution and dedication to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine throughout their four years. More specifically, it is in recognition of a student who served as a role model to other students, inspired students to take action, and most actively and positively impacted CCNM as an agent of change.
