Eco Summit

Let's protect the health of the planet for future generations

You are here

The Eco Summit has been postponed based on public health guidelines for containing COVID-19, and our desire for as many people as possible to join us in this important gathering. Please visit our event page, and contact us if you would like to be kept informed about the rain date.

We hope you will join us! Seeking the curious, the ready and the willing. Naturopathic doctors have a collective opportunity to fulfill our naturopathic oath and play a key role in protecting the health of the planet for future generations.

At our one-day summit for NDs, students and friends, we will explore actions around environmental sustainability and resilience.

When: Saturday, March 14, 2020; 9-5
Where: CCNM (1255 Sheppard Ave. E., Toronto); please contact if you're interested in a livestream.

What are our goals?

  • To bring together members of the naturopathic community to engage in conversation and planning around environmental justice
  • To provide educational opportunities for students and naturopathic doctors with respect to the value and strategies for advocacy
  • To mobilize the naturopathic community to take collective and coordinated action

Specifics: The spirit of the day is one of mobilizing, forward movement, and collective action. We will start with an opening session to bring participants together and share concerns, fears and barriers. We will offer two choices of six breakout sessions - one of three in the morning, one of three in the afternoon. The day will close with a plenary session, and collective goal setting. During the lunch hour and breaks, we hope participants will explore activities in the common area, including a clothing swap, potluck, community art, and opportunities for deep connections.

Cost: The suggested cost of this event is $40 for the day, but we don't want cost to be a barrier to anyone. Please feel free to register as whatever level best fits you; all proceeds will go to funding the activities of the EcoCouncil:
  • $20: student, underemployed
  • $40: regular registration
  • $60: generous donor

Workshop topics:

  • Therapeutic sustainability
  • Reducing the footprint of individual and institutional practices
  • Nutrition, food security, and environmental sustainability
  • Indigenous health and worldview
  • Biophilic design and associated benefits
  • Health impacts/management of climate-change related disease

Hosted by the Eco Council, a collaboration of members of CCNM, the Naturopathic Students Association, the Naturopathic Medical Student Association, and Naturopathic Doctors for Environmental and Social Trust; sponsored by Meridian Credit Union.
