Course description

Please note that registration has now closed.

We developed this course after several requests from colleagues looking to update their skills and bring pelvic exams back to their practices. This course will include both a classroom component and a practical component. This course will review how to identify and treat common external genital and pelvic concerns (atrophic vaginosis, vaginal infections, and common vulvar skin disorders). The practical component of the course will allow participants to observe a demonstration of the pelvic examination, perform multiple exams on a silicone pelvic model, and perform two exams on a standardized patient, with feedback from an experienced peer. Participants will leave with a pelvic exam startup checklist, which will include a list of items needed to incorporate these exams into your practice, as well as where to source these items.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify common presenting complaints related to the genitalia
  • Apply effective and evidence-based treatments to common genital and pelvic conditions
  • Proficiently conduct a pelvic exam of the vulva, and internal genitalia (vagina, uterus, ovaries)
