Clinical Nutrition I
This course examines the relationship between nutrition, health and disease. The structure and function of macro and micro nutrients required for human health are examined, and the roles and requirements of vitamins and minerals are discussed. The clinical application of nutrients is introduced from a nutritional biochemistry perspective, and includes discussion of therapeutic dosages, adverse effects, and laboratory methods for assessing status. This course provides the foundation for Clinical Nutrition courses taught in second and third years.
