Where you go to school is just as important as what you study. Choosing the right school for you will get you on the right track for your entire student and professional career. Here are some points to consider when thinking about which school is right for you:
CCNM is the only naturopathic program in Canada approved to grant a Doctor of Naturopathy degree
The consent provided by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (formerly the Ontario Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities) was the result of an extensive process involving three reviews of CCNM’s program and its operations. Ontario’s Post-Secondary Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) recommended approval to the Minister based upon their assessment of the level of the program and the quality and security of College operations.
CCNM has the lowest tuition of all accredited schools in North America
We know that cost is a key factor when considering further education. That's why we endeavour to keep our tuition prices as low as possible, and are proud to offer top quality education at the lowest rate of all accredited naturopathic schools in North America.
Financial aid may be available in the form of scholarships, bursaries, and emergency student loans to help you. We are also the only Canadian naturopathic school approved to administer student loans for students from the US.
(Tuition includes health and dental plan, CAND membership, NSA fee and estimated cost of books.)
(Tuition for international students includes basic health coverage)
CCNM is the first, and only college to receive a seven year reaccreditation period, the longest term granted, by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education (CNME)
The determination of the CNME Board to grant this period of reaccreditation is based upon their rigorous review and assessment of CCNM’s programs and operations.
CCNM faculty members are leaders in naturopathic medicine and some have literally written the book on naturopathic medicine
A number of our faculty have written and published the very textbooks that are used in other naturopathic schools. Among our faculty members and clinic supervisors, we have NDs, MDs, RNs, RMTs and DCs, as well as MBAs and lawyers teaching business courses.
CCNM's on-site teaching clinic is the largest naturopathic clinic in North America
Our fourth-year interns treat over 100 patients a day at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC). We also have five satellite clinics in community health centres around Toronto with specialties such as HIV/AIDS, and aboriginal health.
With specialty shifts in sports medicine, cancer care, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, reproductive health and pediatrics at the RSNC, you will have the opportunity to see and treat a variety of patients and health concerns.
CCNM operates North America’s only naturopathic teaching clinic in a hospital setting
The Brampton Naturopathic Teaching Clinic (BNTC), located at the Brampton Civic Hospital, opened in 2013. CCNM interns, under supervision of licensed naturopathic doctors, host over 700 patient visits per month at BNTC.
CCNM’s core naturopathic curriculum includes Asian medicine
CCNM students learn about the philosophy and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine including practical instruction in acupuncture. CCNM graduates are eligible to practice acupuncture in all regulated jurisdictions in Canada without the need for further education.
CCNM's Department of Research is a world-wide leader in advancing our understanding of complementary and naturopathic medicine as a viable, sustainable health-care system
By fostering a culture of research, CCNM investigates a range of topics, from addiction to pediatrics, in order to explore the real strengths of naturopathic medicine, test therapies and influence policy. CCNM research has appeared in many peer-reviewed publications including Canada's premier medical journal, the Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ).
Our students are involved in international health care
Our students are passionate and have been involved with Natural Doctors International, Naturopaths without Borders, and FIMAFRICA. Our students have embarked on once-in-a-lifetime trips to Nicaragua, Guatemala, Haiti, and Kenya to visit and treat patients at local clinics. A handful of students also go to India with our faculty to attend a homeopathy conference every year. Like the other groups, these students will also have the opportunity to see and treat patients at local clinics.
CCNM is the only college in Canada to offer an accredited residency program
CCNM offers CNME-accredited residency opportunities in Canada. In addition to the CCNM clinical and research residencies, we partner with affiliate sites including Marsden Centre of Naturopathic Excellence and Boucher Institute Residency Program.
CCNM is the only College to offer a two-year bridge delivery of the naturopathic program for international medical graduates
CCNM offers bridge delivery of its naturopathic medical program, developed specifically for international medical graduates (IMGs) as an opportunity to further their health care careers in Canada. Required courses are organized into a compressed period of 24 months. The six-term curriculum incorporates all of the competencies of the four-year naturopathic medical program, acknowledges previous medical experience and education, while providing additional supports to address the unique needs inherent to an IMG cohort.
CCNM has an on-site residence for out-of-town students
The dormitory rooms are very affordable, and have been recently renovated. Each floor has a number of shared kitchens and lounges with laundry facilities, satellite television and balconies that overlook our herb garden and courtyard. Living on campus means that you have access to all of our other facilities right at your doorstep. We have security guards on site 24 hours a day to ensure your safety.
Our campus is located in Toronto, the biggest city hub in Canada.
Toronto is a vibrant city that appeals to everybody's interests. From arts, sports, nature trails, social scenes to street festivals, Toronto has something for everyone. CCNM is located directly on the subway line (the subway stop is literally under our parking lot!) and has Toronto's two major highways, the 401 and 404/Don Valley Parkway, less than five minutes away. The famed Yonge Street with its eclectic mix of restaurants and shops is only three subway stops away, while the Don River and Don River Trail are across the street from us. You can experience all of Toronto when you step out from CCNM.
