Course description

Bowen therapy is a pain therapy known for its efficacy and ease of application! Bowen movements involve releasing tension in an area by applying a series of gentle movements across the body of muscles, tendons, or nerves. This affects not only the structural level and functional systems of the body, but also an individual’s overall sense of well-being.

This intensive five-day ‘hands on’ course for CCNM covers modules 1-6 of 8 modules and includes the history and theory of Bowen therapy, the mechanism of action, the majority of Bowen therapy procedures, as well as strategies for case management. Upon completion registrants will be eligible to receive a CBT therapist certification. This will involve completing 100 practical hours and will be relevant for two years. You will then need to complete the certification by taking modules 7 and 8. Course manuals are included.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Jonathan Damonte - Instructor

Jonathan Damonte of North American Bowen Teaching College has been involved with Bowen therapy since 1997 after his first Bowen therapy experience. The treatment was effective for a long-standing hip misalignment resulting from a fall from high up a tree as a child. He then trained with Ossie Rentsch, a long time student of the founder, Tom Bowen. It was Ossie that fully resolved the hip injury and it was Ossie Rentch’s style of Bowen Therapy that influenced him thereafter.

In 1999, he founded the first Bowen therapy ‘walk In’ clinic, the Be Well Now Center for Bowen Technique, Homeopathic & Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. In 2003, Damonte relocated to BC and established two clinics, one in the city center of Vancouver and the second in White Rock. In 2001, he founded Bowen Canada to help develop the therapy throughout the country. Over the next five years, he worked with The Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia, then known as Bowtech. Founding the North American Bowen Teaching College in 2009.
