Southwest School
of Botanical Medicine, Arizona offers an intense 4 month clinical
herbalist course. This site has a collection of beautiful photos,
classic engravings, and pen-&-ink drawings of a large variety
of medicinal plants. Also contains a page of links to other sites
with medicinal plant images, organized alphabetically by plant
name.

Features information
on the plants and activities at the University of Arizona Herbarium.
Their plant photograph collection, organized by family name,
is quite interesting, but of varying quality.

medicinal plants. Herbalgram is the official journal of
the ABC. Contains mainly information about the organization and

research projects.

the Herb Research Foundation (HRF), a nonprofit research and

NAPRALERT
NAPRALERT (NAtural
PRoducts ALERT) contains bibliographic and factual data on natural
products, including information on the pharmacology, biological

marine) extracts. Theoretically, a great resource, but very confusing
to use!

Medicines Comprehensive Database
This database provides
up to date clinical data on natural medicines, herbal medicines
and dietary supplements. The data included for each entry is
referenced to peer-reviewed medical literature, The database
includes product names, brand names, scientific names and common
names. Access to this database is available from CCNM computers
- simply click on the "Click to Login" button.

United States Department of Agriculture, this site provides access
to several databases, including the National PLANTS Database
project (providing standardized information on plant names, symbols,
and other attributes), the National Plant Data Center (features
large collection of plant images) and the Integrated Taxonomy
Information System (online, scientifically-verifiable list of
biological names of North American flora and fauna).

A. Köhler's book, Medizinal Pflanzen, published
in 1887. Searchable by botanical name.

Smithsonian
Catalog of Botanical Illustrations
Images from the
Smithsonian's botanical illustration database, which contains
over 3000 plant images. The on-line version contains about 500
illustrations, but all the illustrations will eventually be digitalized.
The only drawback is that plants can only be located by selecting
a plant family and then a generic name from the index.
