CCNM conducts research in a variety of areas, including natural health products, corporate wellness, public health, HIV treatment, botanical medicines, infectious disease and herb-drug interactions. CCNM’s research papers have been published in many of the world’s top medical journals, including the Canadian Medical Association Journal, British Medical Journal and the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Research in the areas of corporate wellness, public health, children’s health and the aging North American population has created a demand for more information and access to natural health. However, research dollars are frequently committed to existing paradigms and existing players in the health research field. Seed funds are required to promote quality research in complementary approaches to health management.
CCNM hopes to improve the health of Canadians through high quality research in naturopathic medicine. Specifically, the College is raising research dollars that will provide the following:
Matching contributions for public research in:
- models for community health care
- control of infectious disease (including pandemics)
- health and human rights
- multidisciplinary health management
- aging population(s)
Partnership opportunities in research with other educational institutions in the areas of:
- diabetes
- pediatrics
- oncology
- pain management
Seed money for economic studies related to naturopathic medicine to:
- reduce corporate health costs
- determine the role of naturopathic medicine in Canada’s public health system determine the role of naturopathic medicine in a culturally diverse country
