Course description:

The objective of this 10-week basic course is to provide the fundamental principles of Yoga Therapy. The participant will be introduced to a methodology of ancient yogic diagnosis and treatment for modern lifestyle disorders, as well as positive health promotion with the reduction of stress and lifestyle modification. This series will also explore the manifestation of prana or energetic life force as related to disease in the five sheaths of the body, the relevance of yogic wisdom in a clinical setting, and modern research findings in yoga being done in Canada and abroad. Participants will be supplied with written material on the systematized therapeutic yoga in addition to the yoga therapy level-1 certificate of participation.

About the Instructor:

Mr. Babu Rao has achieved great depths in practices of Yoga and self-realization. He studied the profound wisdom of the Vedas, the nectar of the Upanishads in its entirety, can speak seven different languages and comes from a family upbringing of Siddha medicine and herbal remedy. He obtained gold medal in his Master degree in Yogic Sciences and Human Consciousness. Mr. Babu Rao has acquired certification and special training in Arhatic Yoga and Advanced Pranic Healing with the World Pranic Healing Foundation, Philippines and is the founder of the Canadian Centre for Yoga Therapy and Research, Canada. He has worked as a faculty of Yoga for SVYASA and Mangalore Universities. He was one of the founding members for the Advanced Yoga Therapy Centre at NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience), Bangalore. He received special training in Neuro-cognitive assessments and Cognitive Retraining. Mr. Babu Rao has presented many research papers on therapeutic yoga in national and international conferences. He is a certified member of Yoga Alliance and IAYT, U.S.A. He worked with pioneers in Yoga Therapy and Psychiatry like Dr.B.N.Gangadhar (H.O.D, Dept of Psychiatry, NIMHANS), Dr. Nagarathna R (Chief Yoga Therapist, SVYASA University), Dr. Nagendra (Vice-Chancellor, SVYASA University), and Dr. Krishna Bhat (H.O.D. Dept of Yogic Science and Human Consciousness, Mangalore University).
